Two Horse Race

So I am at work and as usual my tv is on CP24.
The host was interviewing George Smitherman.
Smitherman mentions how he is going across the city and that Eglinton goes through the city.

Eglinton Avenue is the only street in 416/647 that goes through Etobicoke, York, North York, Toronto, East York and Scarborough.

Back to going across the city:  Rocco Rossi already went across the city in his Mayorathon.

I was typing this post and then lunch time came. I ate then I came back and I am redoing this post.

Smitherman mentions something about Rob Ford and how Smitherman is about providing quality services and Rob Ford wants to cut everything.

The host then goes on to say that this is now a two horse race.

That seriously pisses me off. I hope the host remembers that Joe Pantalone, Rocco Rossi and Sarah Thomson will join Rob Ford and George Smitherman tomorrow at 8pm at the CP24 debate, I think it is the third one.

It is an attack towards democracy to call it a two horse race.

Pantalone, Rossi and Thomson have good ideas. They also have ideas that I don’t agree with.

We are all going on how the city sucks, it’s falling apart and so forth, but only 33 of us actually went on to do something (33 + all the Councillor and School Trustee candidates).

To deny Torontonians the ideas of all 33 candidates is just wrong. Hence why our EMD was created. If you want changes in the city then contact all 33 candidates and ask them how they will go about change. Whichever one impresses you the most then go for it. Hey it could be Ford or Smitherman, even Rossi.

Calling it a 2 horse race means you are ignoring Rocco Achampong, Don  Andrews, George  Babula, Christopher  Ball, Andrew  Barton, Wendell  Brereton, Douglas  Campbell, Jaime  Castillo, Kevin  Clarke, Keith  Cole, Charlene  Cottle, Selwyn  Firth, Michael  Flie, Abdullah-Baquie  Ghazi, Howard  Gomberg, Monowar  Hossain, Dewitt  Lee, John  Letonja, Colin  Magee, Joseph  Pampena, Joe  Pantalone, Rocco  Rossi, Mark  State, Tibor  Steinberger, Himy  Syed, Phil  Taylor, Sarah  Thomson, David  Vallance, Ratan  Wadhwa, Daniel  Walker, Sonny  Yeung.

The three italicized are going to be there on the CP24 studios with Rob and George. Look another George as well: George Babula.

Certain candidates will have more money and better connections.

Whomever I vote for, I don’t care if they are CON, LIB, NDP or whatever else. I will for someone who will make Toronto better. I heard from most of the “fringe” candidates at the Better Ballots debate. That was an improvement and THANK YOU to the BETTER BALLOTS people.

This Mayoral race is a 33 horses race.

Every candidate has good points and they all have not so good points in their platforms. We need to fix transit, there are different ways to go about it. We need to fix….and there are different ways to go about it.

Since 1998 (when I turned 18) I have voted in municipal, provincial and federal elections. I have helped in campaigns on all three levels. I was in Sarah Thomson’s campaign and I left because I don’t agree with tolls. I went to George Smitherman and to tell you the truth, I tend to vote Liberal (I also voted CON and NDP in the past), so I went to his campaign. I met George when I was helping Glen Murray in the Toronto Centre-Rosedale by-election.

2010: I have realized that my focus has to be to get more people vote: 40% voted, the other 60% didn’t. I will try to get as many of them vote, get them heard. Also give attention to “fringe” candidates.

  1. Sonny Yeung says:

Hey Miroslav, we met before. There are now 34 mayoral candidates and is trending to over 40 by EDay. In the last open race; Miller won with 43.2% of the votes accepted. Back then the voter turnout was around 33% Tomorrow is the only mayoral debate in July…good luck to the School Trustee candidates to get attention until the fall. At least the councillors are having BBQs and movie nights. Cheers, Sonny

Miroslav: Some candidates are holding tea parties, some held a beer party.
Just because I attend them doesn’t mean I will vote for them. I just like to be informed.

One candidate from Ward 42 (not incumbent) held his opening in his garage and backyard. Cake, chips, cheese, and something that was delicious but didn’t know what it was.

You don’t have to throw a big expensive party. Heck if you order pizza and wings I’d be happy.

All these events have one thing in common: Candidate talks to Torontonians. Good Luck
