Rocco Rossi (@roccothevoteTO) and Lawrence Heights debate #VoteTO
Rocco Rossi did not attend the Lawrence Heights debate out of respect for the Jewish population in the area. He clarified things why, here is a screenshot:
Read bottom up (1-4):

Usually I don’t post Direct Messages/e-mails/etc…but to be fair and I liked his last message.
During the debate I mentioned that Rocco Rossi was not there.
I personally think that all candidates should be at all debates. I know there are con-current events going on.
I have to give him credit for respecting the Jewish population.
I am not sure if you know this but there are non-Jewish in the community. What about them?
There are things I do not like about RR’s platform and there are things that I like about RR’s platform.
His 7th. stop on his Mayor-a-thon was at the Guildwood Farmer’s Market. I go there every week. I live close by. He came to my neighbourhood.
He helped Luminato. I forgot exactly how. Rocco? Help.
He was there at Pride Toronto’s Parade. I was volunteering again for the parade. I got Smitherman, Thomson and Pantalone.
As I was going down the line doing my duties…as I approach his group he says hello to me and shakes my hand. That was awesome. He remembers my name AND pronounces it correctly.
I am not going to endorse him (or any candidate).
If I see Rocco at a festival, or even at a grocery store I will say hello.
After the debate I went for dinner on Queen’s Quay. I went to a midnight Improv show and during that show Rocco sent me the DMs.
I will crtiticize all candidates platforms. I will chew the platforms, I will gurgle them and spit them out.
Just because I talk to any of the candidates, it doesn’t mean I will endorse them.
If they can’t handle criticism then they shouldn’t be running.
I “picked” on Rocco because he wasn’t there. I also “picked” on George Smitherman for leaving. Did you see what I wrote about Rob Ford?
I (along my staff) are immigrants who came to this country from hell holes. We enjoy the freedoms of this country. Part of the democratic process is to share our opinions.
The one thing I will never allow: racism/blatant personal attacks from anyone to the site or the other way around. Criticize the platform and don’t make personal attacks.
Now I am going to that Bloor Festival

Hi Miroslav. I was wondering if your statement of ‘not endorsing a candidate’ means you will not vote?
Miroslav: I am an activist. I have been helpping my community and others in Toronto for 15 years. I started in highschool. I am willing to work with any candidate that becomes Mayor. Some candidates are better than others. We even have a racist (he clearly says he is a racist not a nazi – ask Jonathan Goldsbie (@goldsbie)). I am there usually one of the first people to vote. I have voted in every Municipal election since 1998, every Ontario provincial and federal election since 1998. I even helped out some of the campaigns and in three by-elections. It is quite fun and you get to see another side of democracy. If I post here: “I am endorsing xyz” then I feel that I am sort of doing a disservice. I have talked to most candidates, I have no problem criticizing any of their platforms. I give them suggestions. People should be going up to the candidates (not just the media5) and getting their points across.
I will be voting on October 25. If I have to crawl on my stomach to go to the gym/church/whatever location. I want that 60% of eligible voters not to vote to actually go vote.
Hey Miroslav, don’t take the deflection too seriously. Candidates make a choice where they allocated their time and resources… like Smitherman’s early exits from many fora. One has to be concerned about the relationship between religion and politics. I am Christian and will be going to an event this afternoon in Markham to discuss “Civic Engagement” with a predominately Asian audience and whomever else might be in the mall. And in the evening I will be dancing the Twist at Yonge & Dundas on my day of worship…
Miroslav:I work on Sundays, I respect that people have different views and religions, just don’t force your religion on others. No single religion should force their views/ways on the rest of society. I went to Catholic highschool but I am against it. In an ideal world we would have a school board for all other religions, but then that would mean separating people based on their religions. If I had the powers right now, I would merge all school boards into one. No one is stopping you from practicing your religion. In fact one of my best highschool memories was that World Religions course where we went to a temple, mosque, synagogue and other places of worship from different religions. In fact I have been invited by friends throughout the years to attend their worships.
Some places have for example ask you to take off your shoes, some have women in a separate section, others have their day on saturday, some on friday and so forth. It is great that we have such multicultural/multireligious city. I will continue going to different worship events. They do it different than my own religion. I will continue to go to different cultural festivals. I view both types of events as a way to learn about different people in our city. It’s awesome.
