Lawrence Heights Debate #VoteTO
So Sarah Thomson, Rob Ford, George Smitherman, Joe Pantalone and Rocco Achampong.
Yes you are reading correctly.
Rocco Achampong, Not Rocco Rossi.
Mr. Rossi was partying at Caribana. I guess he doesn’t care for Lawrence Heights. These debates are essential to democracy and our community. I am sorry Mr. Rossi but Caribana and the universe will not explode if you do not attend Caribana. You dissapointed me tonight.
Now watch Mr. Rossi’s so called social media army attack me.
You have entered the race thus you and the other 33 candidates opened yourselves to positive and negative criticism.
Sarah Thomson: I noticed this at the last debate at CP24: She has the cojones to play with the big boys. I saw that again today. She went after Rob Ford. I loved that part. She has that passion burning inside of her. She very good at this debate.
Rob Ford: Do I have to repeat things again about this sack of shit again? My head will explode and I will have a heart attack. I would rather vote for Osama Bin Laden than Rob Ford. He brought the same twist of things again. Rob, you know that guy who waters the plants inside city hall, stop acting like that is the only thing the guy does. You have said things that are racists and homophobic. Why did it take you so many years to apologize for that AIDS comment? If you were truly sorry you would apologized back then. You claim people want subways? What people actually want is RELIABLE TRANSIT. By the way, a few days ago the entire subway stopped working due to an error at a server. Oh gee, subways are so perfect. Did you notice how all the othe candidates went after you? I have been at every City Council meeting (many of your fellow councillors can testify to that) and you are missing from the council floor. He is suing the star. He can dish shit to others on council and fellow candidates but when feces goes flying back to him, he can’t handle it. You are the front runner. You are going to get A LOT of flying feces.
George Smitherman: You came, stayed for an hour or so then left while the others stayed. However he did offer to come back to the community another time. I don’t like his destruction of democracy when he said it is a two horse race. Two words for you…I won’t type them, use your imagination.
Joe Pantalone: I have huge respect for this man. His transit plan is the only one that will bring better transit to my neighbourhood. He is pro-transit and an enviromentalist. He even said hello to me and started a conversation. That was nice.
He gave the best answers at this debate.
Rocco Achampong: I was surprised to see this Rocco instead of the other Rocco that was partying in Caribana related activities.
Achampong has good ideas. I totally respect the man for his wanting to do something for his community and the City. He won #2 place at our EMD.
I like to thank all candidates (minus Ford) for running. It isn’t easy. You care for my neighbourhood, my family, my friends, my city and my fellow Torontonians.
Hvala, Merci, Gracias, Thank You.

99.4 Rossi (LIB)
98.6 Goldsbie (UNK)
97.5 Thomson (CON)
Hey Miroslav, you may want to let your readers know about this poll of 1 vs 1 or the majors option on the right side.

Achampong, Brereton & Pampena also debated Ford, Smitherman & Thomson at the Canadian Black Caucus Debate in June…
I was amused that Achampong was able to rise from 8th place to 2nd when Natasa announced you guys were closing at 1025 votes and eventually 1355, the rise was one of those interesting statistics.
Miroslav: Apparently you don’t follow me on twitter, I am seriously pissed at Smitherman’s request to have a debate with JUST Ford. We have a nick name for him: George the Destroyer of Democracy.
By the time I was aware of the CBCD, it was after the debate.
1025 = The 25th. day of the 10th. month is when you go vote.
The poll was opened for a month at the end, people don’t truly care right now about the campaign, it’s summer. People will start caring a month before election day. That’s also the rough day when signs will start being placed at our yards/windows/fences/etc…
I am very disappointed that the debate was scheduled on the Sabbath on the most important day of the week for many of us who are part of the community and unable to attend due to that reason..it may not have been intended but very little thought must have put into considering the surrounding community and to see Rossi being bashed for being a respectful human being is quite disgusting if you ask me. Caribana happens ONCE a year meaning..the many individuals that are from the area in which the debate is taking place..are AT Caribana and were at Caribana partying WITH Rossi. As for us the other large part of the community..we were doing what is done every Friday for way longer than I can even remember. Truly disrespectful to sit here and bash Rossi for not attending a debate at which the majority of the community could not even attend for either of the two reasons I noted above.
Toronto is a diverse community and this debate itself was planned in poor judgement and lacked the consideration that was needed especially on a Friday night Sabbath during Caribana weekend.. in a neighborhood of predominantly religious Jewish families and another large part of the community at the one celebration Toronto has each year – so unfair and so unthoughtful.
It is not up to the candidates but its up to the organizers to know better and if its clear that they do not know better than its not up to you to sit here and judge someone like Rossi who does know better.
Miroslav: All I said was that Rocco Rossi was not there and now you are accusing me of bashing? Why is it that Rossi’s campaign can’t handle criticism and have to twist everything around like you just did?
Lawrence Heights is made up of many communities, now just the Jewish community. One community shouldn’t dictate to others.
By the way Howard Moscoe (he is Jewish by the way) was there, I even talked to him. Three Discovering Toronto With Transit staff members who live in the are were also there, guess what they are?
I simply stated that Rocco was not at the debate and was partying at the Caribana event. I would find it insulting if the Lawrence Heights debate was held on a Saturday or Sunday (one is a family day, the other is a holly day for Roman Catholics).
If you are going to throw a fit every time I mention Rocco being MIA then you will most likely suffer a heart attack.
Jeriko, Natasha, me and the rest of Discovering Toronto With Transit editors, writers and rest of staff will mention every time ANY “media5″ candidate is not at a Mayoral debate. About 20% of our staff are Jewish. If they want to take Sabbath off then they can do it. If they want to work during Sabbath then it is up to them. I don’t force any of my staff to work during their religious holidays/important days. There were at least 5 Jewish members of the community at the debate including Howard.
I agree its important that the candidates go to as many debates as possible. From what I can tell Rossi is teh busiest candidate so its a surprise he didn’t make it maybe next time?
Miroslav:I seen Sarah Thomson go to a lot of events as well. I haven’t counted based on photos/tweets but if Rossi was the busiest candidate, it wouldn’t surprise me. He is doing a good job. He just wasn’t at this debate. Why do people have to cry like babies because I mentioned that?
